Random Otaku has ended. Ian - 05/13/04 - 01:35pm (AZ) Sorry to say, the Random Otaku Online Webcomic has officially come to a premature end, and after only a single year run. I felt something good was going on here, but it took about a year to realize that my ideals and Joseph's own were in conflict way too much. Things were never done in the manner that we would have truly liked... there were too many bumps in the road, and in the end my experience with the comic became a very unpleasant one. I won't get into any other details on the matter, though - no need for a sappy "soap opera". I don't know what's in store next on my behalf, and I've had some ideas as to what I could do, but chances are you won't be seeing anything from me for quite some time, if not at all. I don't think I'll be working on a new webcomic, either... I don't think a sprite-based mess of mimiced Atari 2600 graphics (see my BSoDs) is going to get very far in this world, and there's enough sprite-based crap on the web as it is (not to imply that all of it is crap, however). There will still be a new webcomic at some point, but that will be the work of Joseph only - I will have no involvement with his new project, and Joseph himself will give the details of his new comic when he feels he is ready to disclose them. I myself don't have any grand ideas that I feel are worth dedicating myself to long-term at this time, but I'll let everyone know if anything comes up. In the meantime, I may occasionally do a small project or two (more than likely Flash movies) for Nekowabaka... but that's about it. Again, I'm sorry that this project has to come to such a quick end without a proper conclusion, and I'm hoping that its dedicated readers won't be too awfully disappointed to see it end like this. I'd like to thank those same readers for sticking with us for so long, even though the times where there were no promised updates to be seen for weeks, if not complete months. And thank you everyone, including Joseph, for making this project, for the most part, an enjoyable one. So sorry again ^^;; Ice - 03/29/04 - 08:36pm (AZ) Gah!! I feel so bad about this. Sorry there is no comic today everyone. Ian and I got tied up in a bit of personal matters regarding continuation of the comic, and it's still undecided. I also kinda... erm... didn't have one done for today ^^;; Anyways.. the comic SHOULD hopefully be updated by next Monday, and every Monday thereafter, if everything goes alright. There's no main comic at all, and there was no way of being able to pick it up. Go and blame Joseph for that... today was his birthday (of all the nerve!!). Yeah, that's right, his birthday! Now go e-mail him and wish him a happy birthday and tell him not to have any more birthdays on days we're supposed to update! Yeesh.... people are sooooo inconsiderate nowadays... (j/k) =P And... as for the BSoD.... I just couldn't do it, plain and simple... serious writer's block. I know it's just a filler and all, but I refuse to toss effortless garbage to our dedicated readers. I like coming up with things that are worth coming to the site for, to read and potentially laugh at, but... well... no dice this time around. Maybe next time... after all, I gotta get them out of that plot hole dimension thing at some point. `.` I really do apologize for that though, but rest assured, next Monday will have a true comic update. Ian - 02/29/04 - 09:35pm (AZ) I should have said something last week about the lack of comic, but... I guess I just didn't get around to it. Also, just to let you know, you won't be seeing a comic this week either. Currently I've had just too much to handle, and while I've had Ice's artwork for the comics now for two weeks, I haven't been able to get around to doing anything with it. I feel really bad about it, but... as I said, I got enough on my plate at the moment. I deeply apologize though - It's been three weeks now without a single new comic. As soon as I've got a lighter load though we'll begin working on the comic reserve again, so we don't run into this kind of problem anymore (gotta work on one any at some point, since Ice will be leaving for bootcamp at some point, sometime in June). Stay tuned - I'm not quite dead (yet). Down, but not out! Ice - 02/19/04 - 10:54am (AZ) No comic for today. But this time there is a solid explanation. I am joining the United States Army. Now, this isn't something that I just up and decided. It had been on my mind for a few months, I just decided to take a harder look into it. I didn't tell Ian, or anybody, as it was something I thought I should decide for myself, even though I could have asked for them to just leave me be on it. Anyways, that is the reason why I have been lacking on comics lately, and time has been somewhat lacking on my part. So, Ian and I have decided (at least for the time being, and until I get done with basic training) that we will have to turn Random Otaku into a once a week comic. It will be updated every Monday, and any extra time I have, I will turn into a reserve for while I am away for those nine weeks. I hope that throughout these past 4-5 months, the lack of consistancy in comics, mostly based on my own laziness, hasn't lost too many peoples interest.
